Dr Anthonia C. Sowunmi pioneer female clinical and Radiation oncologist in Nigeria and also a fellow of the West African College of Surgeons(FWACS), National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria(FMCR), International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA-Fellow).
She has been privileged to do a lot of work on advocacy and cancer care. This has given her the opportunity of identifying some of the major challenges associated with early diagnosis, prevention and treatment for cancer, having been involved in state and national programs/conferences involving health care providers in my country.
She is also one of the editors that wrote the Breast cancer guidelines for the Federal Ministry of Health in Nigeria for cancer screening and treatment and also a member of my professional bodies both home and abroad such as Association of Radiation & Clinical Oncology of Nigeria(ARCON), Association of Radiologists of West Africa (ARAWA), American society of Clinical Oncology(ASCO), African Organization for Research & Training in cancer (AORTIC), African Radiation Oncology Group (AFROG), Cancer Education and Advocacy foundation of Nigeria(CEAFON).
As a researcher in collaboration with some renowned researchers both at home and abroad, She has published over 30 publications in peer reviewed journals and still very committed to researches in oncology.
She has attended many local and international conferences and workshops and have certification from Radiotherapy training course on setting up a radiotherapy/cancer center & usage of linear accelerator machines in South Africa, oncology observership training in Howard University Hospital, USA, oncology observership training in Tata Memorial center, Mumbia, India.
She is certifified with National institute of health, United States Department of Health, USA in molecular prevention course.
